Here's what I did along with 100 people or so I played with on PS2 Socom's through out the years. We heard Socom Confrontation was coming to the PS3, so many of us went out and bought a PS3 thinking we were getting the same Socom game 10 years running out of the box with HD graphics. We just assumed given Socom's track record that Socom would have the same core and game play, we took this for advantage I guess with out thinking.
SO with out worrying about Socom changing I went out all excited and bought a 600 dollar PS3 only to play the Socom Con beta. I remember playing Con for the 1st time in the beta "Crossroads" with many people in my clan flipping out because it had a sprint button and a big clunky blue wheel. Many people went back to Socom Combined Assualt the same day and those who didn't buy a PS3 yet heard what the game was like and held off.
Con was delayed almost a year and many of us continued to play Combined Assualt and those who bought a PS3 like me had a brick for year playing Ghost Recon and Warhawk. So yeah Con put a bad taste in everyone's mouth early because it didn't come out of the box like the last Socom made and was delayed.
Eventually Confronation was released so jacked up that I personally think the game was causing yellow lights of death and Sony knew it, many people sent their's off for free to be fixed.
This was my first PS3 Socom experience I had and many others like me.. So yeah I was let down and mad at Slant/ Seth the liar.
Then.......... We hear our saviors of Socom "ZIpper" was creating Socom 4" everyone was happy again and this place was off the charts with Socom fans who wanted a Zipper game like Socom 1,2,3 and Combined Assualt, because those were the last in the series correct, so we expected Socom 4 to follow suit from the last.
OHHHHH !! ****, the first S4 video was released and I once again was heart broke and all hell broke loose on here and the seperation between the fans started. I got a ticket to play Socom 4 at Zipper along with 17 others and the trip was great along with placing faces to names was cool,,, but as soon as I sat down on that stool at Zipper and Socom respawn standard mode popped up,, I said what the **** is this, looks like a 3rd person MAG. I knew Socom was dead on the way back to my hotel room riding in the shuttle bus,, some of us were angry and others were confused.
So this is why many of us long time fans appear to be cry baby immature brats,, because we were robbed twice over and spent many years purchasing Socom and upgrading to expensive consoles to only be slapped in the face by Sony and you the Casual gamer who accepted this debicle of a Socom game.
