    Rumor: SOCOM 4 in development
Posted on July 5, 2009 by Nick

    The
SOCOM franchise is no stranger to Sony platforms, with 9 entries
spanning across Sony's all 3 of their most recent platforms. However,
it has been nearly 4 years since the last main entry into the series
has hit shelves, with SOCOM 3's launch back in 2005. According to PCB Production's credits page, it looks like the draught may be over though, to the delight of SOCOM fans across the world.

    The
digital content creation studio, which has worked on several games in
the past, has been working on some motion capture assets for SOCOM 4, a
PlayStation 3 title currently in development. A quick look back at
some cached versions of the website show that the title was added
    sometime within the past year.

    With
MAG due to hit shelves this fall, it can only make you wonder if
perhaps Zipper Interactive has started some preliminary work on a SOCOM
    4. Slant Six, responsible for the ill-received SOCOM: Confrontation,
is currently working on Fireteam Bravo 3 for the PSP.

I hope to goodness Zipper is making another Socom... I can't wait for MAG let alone Socom 4 made for the PS3 by Zipper. There is hope for Socom.

I have been playing socom since the first one, IN socom 1 you could cheat by using a game genie,
In socom 2 you could get behind half the walls in a map and we never did get a patch to fix half of these NEVER. you didn't know when a patch would come out or what it would do. Lag was at times even worse than now not to mention you could make a lag switch for 2, 3, and combined assault. there used to be a glitch (GOD MODE) where you floated around killing everyone. and like i said most of these were never fixed. I'm not saying slant six is awesome but they do tell you a lot more and the game gets updates that try to fix problems a whole lot more than zipper ever did. Zipper seemed to just say well fix it in the next one which is fine if it came out annually but it didn't so lets not get to deep into the good ole days talk.
when s2 came out there were people who said this sucks im going back to 1 and when 3 came out they said im going back to 2. Personnaly I HATE socom and love it at the same time its like crack and thats how its always been and thats how it is now for me.

Weird - I think I agree with the last post. I liked Zipper's storyline for the single player and their map creation. I would like Slant Six to take it a step further by listening to the community as a whole. Also I would really like a 4-player Co-Op Socom (done right this time). Nothing against online multiplayer but sometimes I enjoy just blasting the heck out of the computer AI.

Yeah, Zipper had a great map design and a great offline mode. But their online did leave something to be desired. Parshay, don't forget you could use Code 9 on SOCOM II Wink

I read somewhere that those guys were actually working on a PSP SOCOM, FTB2. There is no SOCOM 4 in development
