If i had the reigns of this game this is how I would make it work and wouldn't even need to listen to a single person on these forums. 1) I'd make the Zipper team go back and do maintenance on all the older servers and try to get them running like they did when they first released each game, not for the players, for themselves. 2) I would have them shut down the servers for private play and make every single person involved in the creation of S4 play for at least a week or two on every single iteration made to date.I mean everyone from the SCEA employees,to Zipper employees right down to the guy who puts in the credits at the end of the game.Everyone invlolved in S4 in any way shape or form. I wouldn't want them to hear how this aspect was better or that aspect was better.I would make them go back and SEE what was better. Let them see and experience why it felt more gratifying to kill in the first Socom with no bullet spray once you mastered the recoil, feel the satisfaction that their better aim got them the kill over the opponent. Let them move on to S2 and see why the hit detection was such a big problem after how S1 was,let them play the breach, extraction, and escort maps and let them see how those maps played and felt when they were one mode maps specifically designed to be played that way. let them move on to S3 and let them see how the big maps and bullet spray slowed down the gameplay and made it one dimensional where most just wanted to guile camp and snipe.let them see how drab it felt to play Escort,Breach, and Extraction on multi mode maps that weren't designed for that kind of play.Let them see how vehicles often took away from the focus and objective of the battle and became a means for people to draw out rounds when they were outnumbered (especially in tanks). Let them see how big maps with water caused alot more long drawn out draws where finding a person in water was like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Go to CA and see how it felt to play with no blood after having that in the game and not having as good indications if your shot hit the mark, let them see how after just playing three iterations with terrorists its sounds cheesy and lame to hear mercenaries, and once again see how multi mode maps kill the funfactor of above mentioned map types. then go to CON and see how adding similar looking scenery doesn't give it that "Socom feel" at all when you change everything from view perspective and speed as well as strip out a bunch of things they had become accostomed to having in all the prior games.Let them feel how bland that game played and why it was down to 12,000 or less per night after just one week. Finally, any additions or changes they made I would ask them to make based on what they just played and experienced first hand. What needs to change? Why? Don't just change things for the sake of changing things or thinking on paper it will bring in a certain kind of audience, change things because you can take what was there and make it better or enhance it so it works better then previous games. I think if they made a game based on a first hand experience from the gamer point of view, our threads of critcisms and long wish list threads would be far and few inbetween. They'd finally get it,or most of it at least. |
