What The Recent Battlefield 3 News Means For You
Monday, August 2nd - by Aaron 'Freakboy' Peckler - Chief Editor
Now if you are like me and most of the Battlefield community right now, you are most likely a bit confused.

On Friday the 30th EA announced that if you bought the limited edition of Medal of Honor you would then automatically receive a beta key for Battlefield 3. That right there sounds great!

We get easy access into the beta for Battlefield 3
We finally here some news about Battlefield 3! It has been over a year since the CEO of EA accidentally confirmed Battlefield 3's development
And now onto the thing that people are confused about. People have been throwing around questions like "Will Battlefield 3 be multi-platform then since you get a key with no matter what platform you buy Medal of Honor on?" "Will it be a port from console to PC?" What will be the minimum specs of Battlefield 3?" "When will the beta start?" So I will do my best to answer the questions (numbers coincide with the order of the questions).

This one is not clear yet, no one has really given a straight answer. It very well may be a multi-platform game, but then again it could have been a marketing mi xup. Or it could be that they will give you a key for the PC beta no matter what platform you buy Medal of Honor for.
This one is also not known for sure but judging by what the ex CEO of DICE, Fredrik Liljegren, said back in February is any indication is that Battlefield 3 is first being developed on the PC for the PC in mind. "What the PC version is going to be, Battlefield 3, I think it's going to absolutely blow everyone away, but I can't tell you what it is, but it will blow people away."
Now the answer to this question is probably more clear than any of the others. Johan Andersson said this "Frostbite 2 is primarily developed for DX11. XP & DX9 is _not_ supported, 64-bit OS is recommended. Lots of time to upgrade if you havent!"
And so that should give you a general idea but the big news in this one is that Windows XP will not be supported in Battlefield 3, which is more of an evolutionary step than anything the OS is 9 years old. He late went on to say "@GamerOfFreedom Shouldn't be that different compared to FB1.5/BC2 but with DX10/DX11 card and Vista/Win7 required. FB2 is more efficient" after being asked what the minimum specs will be.
This may in fact be the most unclear out of them all. The details on the beta are scant but they do say the beta will start sometime within 12 months of the release of Medal of Honor retail version, which is October 12th, 2010. So your guess is as good as any.
So with that in mind I do not think we will hear anything for a little while, but we will most likely get a formal announcement of the game in the coming months.
